Experience:

Candace worked as a Judicial Research Counsel at the Supreme Court of Trinidad and Tobago following her admission into practice in 2013. As a Judicial Research Counsel, she was assigned to both High Court and Court of Appeal Judges where her duties included drafting legal opinions and judgments, conducting legal research, proof reading judgments, keeping the Judge/s abreast of new legal developments, assisting the judge/s with training exercises and extra judicial speaking engagements.
During her tenure at the Supreme Court of Trinidad and Tobago, Candace was a member of the Judicial Research Counsel Management Committee, which was responsible for assisting in the recruitment, assignment, transfer, training and conflict resolution of all Judicial Research Counsel. She was also a member of the Rules Committee for the Turks and Caicos Islands which was tasked with formulating revised rules of court for that territory.
In January 2023, Candace left the Judiciary and worked briefly as an independent legal practitioner at Lex Fortis Chambers. She was awarded a fellowship by the United Nations to participate in the prestigious International Law Regional Course which she attended in Santiago, Chile in May 2023 before joining the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group in July 2023.
Candace is a trained mediator and an avid reader with a keen interest in intellectual property, public law and civil practice and procedure.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, researching social justice issues and volunteering at the Diego West Lion’s Club of which she is currently an active member.
