Experience:

Prior to her admission to practice, Tanya was employed briefly with the National Library and Information Systems Authority (NALIS) as a Legal Officer assigned to the Office of the Corporate Secretary where she conducted research in areas of company law, contract law and government procurement, drafted contracts, lease and attended Board Meetings for the purpose of recording Minutes.

From April 2013 to September 2019, Tanya was employed as a Judicial Research Counsel assigned firstly to the Honourable Madame Justice of Appeal Weekes (as she then was), and then to High Court Judges, the Honourable Mr. Justice Vasheist Kokaram (as he then was) and the Honourable Madame Justice Nadia Kangaloo where she was exposed to and involved in conducting research, preparing opinions and advices and drafting judgments in a wide range of matters covering all areas of law. Tanya was a member of the Consolidated Civil Proceedings Rules (CPR) 2016 Sub-Committee and assisted in the production of the publication of the Consolidated Civil Proceedings Rules (2016) and as a member of the Gender Equality Protocol Committee, was involved in the production of the Gender Equality Protocol for Judicial Officers.

Tanya is a Fellow of the United Nations having successfully completed the Regional Course in International Law in 2017.

Tanya joined our firm in September 2019 as a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group. She has appeared as Instructing Attorney in the High Court and Court of Appeal in a wide range of commercial litigation matters. The extensive experience which she gained as Judicial Research Counsel has made Tanya an invaluable and highly dependable member of the team.
