Trinidad & Tobago – 2014
Prior to her admission to practice in 2014, Maria worked for over six (6) years in private practice gaining vital practical and administrative experience while pursuing her legal qualifications.
Following her admission to the bar of Trinidad and Tobago, Maria worked as an Associate in a medium-sized full-service law firm from 2014 to 2017 where she acquired significant experience in both contentious and non-contentious areas of law. During this time, Maria honed her legal research, writing and drafting skills by preparing opinions, pleadings and submissions as well as reviewing and preparing commercial contracts. Maria also appeared in the High Court instructing Counsel in several matters involving debt collection, breach of contract, land law and family law and occasionally represented clients at the Magistrate and Industrial Courts. During this period, Maria was also tasked with the responsibility of preparing Estate Applications, Wills, various types of Deeds, Residential and Commercial Leases, Licenses and Sale Agreements.
In June 2017, Maria left the practice of law to complete her Masters in Global Studies at the University of the West Indies, where she graduated with Distinction in September 2017. Upon completion, Maria returned to private practice as a sole practitioner focused on the areas of Real Property/Conveyancing, Contract and Judicial Review before joining our firm in February 2019.
Throughout her career, Maria has been exposed to various areas of law, sharpening her legal skills as well as her oral and written communication skills. With her attention to detail Maria brings the same meticulous, client-focused approach to each of her transactions.
As a member of our Real Estate Team, Maria advises the firm’s clients on a wide range of property transactions as well as estate and succession planning issues which arise in property acquisition.
