Shiva was a former Patent Examiner at the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Legal Affairs for 6 years during which period he obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of London External Programme. He subsequently resigned from the Intellectual Property Office to pursue and complete the Legal Practice Certificate at Staffordshire University in the United Kingdom.

Prior to his stint in the field of intellectual property, Shiva obtained his bachelor's degree in Agriculture with a minor in entrepreneurial studies from the University of the West Indies and has worked in the technical departments of National Flour Mills and Caribbean Chemicals and Agencies Limited.

Shiva has attended numerous training programmes in the areas of substantive patent examination and trademark classification at the Intellectual Property offices in the Czech Republic and Austria and has acquired considerable experience and practical knowledge in research methodology which is critical to conducting trademark and patent searches as well as technology licensing and branding.

In 2010, Shiva was appointed a member of a Cabinet- appointed Committee to Enable the Protection and Commercialization of Sport Related Intellectual Property in the Sports Industry. His great love for sports coupled with his interest in Intellectual Property has led to Shiva's passion for and focus on this highly specialised area of intellectual property in sport.

Shiva joined our Firm on August 3, 2015 and is attached to our Corporate and Commercial Department. His practice includes the broad spectrum of corporate work for both local and foreign entities, financial institutions and private individuals. This includes, but is not limited to company incorporations, drafting of corporate and commercial agreements, preparation of leases and Mortgage Bills of Sale. Shiva also provides advice to clients on various aspects of law. His extensive practical experience has added great value to the department and to his clients.
